Summer reading provides students in the Advanced Placement program an opportunity to maintain and improve their critical-reading skills during the summer months. These titles have been selected because they offer students a book on their independent reading level as well as subject matter that they can further study and access as evidence on future essays. Advanced students should read both fiction and non-fiction reading material in order to have balanced critical reading and analytical skills. The English teachers at Rockdale High School recommend that students read several additional titles during the summer.
The students will be required to submit their summer-reading assignments in the first week of school. The assignments should be in the student’s best handwriting and present a quality product, reflective of an honors student.
