RHS Newsletter

June 2018

It is hard to believe that it is almost July – summer is flying by!  Rockdale ISD will be closed June 30 - July 8.  I hope you are enjoying your break I have shared upcoming dates and information below.

I have linked the dates for the SAT/ACT for 2018-2019.  The test dates offered in Rockdale are noted but know that the schools near us (Cameron, Taylor, Giddings, Hutto…) offer testing on the other dates. Students interested in attending college best practice is to take exams beginning your junior year.  We are offering exams early August for seniors attempting to raise scores for college admittance and scholarships.

The SAT practice site is available through a partnership with The College Board, which administers the SAT, and Khan Academy, a leader in online education. By logging on to www.satpractice.org, students are able to access personalized practice recommendations that are tailored to their own strengths, weaknesses, and progress.  This site is also great for PSAT practice; all juniors will take the PSAT October 10 and sophomores will take the PSAT February 27.   There are many scholarships associated with high ACT, SAT, and PSAT scores please encourage your student to take advantage of the free practice sites.

Freshmen camp (Class of 2022) just a reminder that camp forms were sent home to all 8th graders.  We are still taking registrations for freshmen camp and need them ASAP so we can order shirts and food.  There are extra forms in the front office and on the RHS webpage.
